The Chinatown Project
Studio 2022/2023
Our team harnessed existing and new infrastructure to propose interventions supported by the local community. These interventions attempt to create a better sense of community/neighbourhood identity, improve the quality of life of residents: these benefits emerging without turning the area into a caricatured theme park. By September 2023, our proposals were integrated within the Chinatown reimagined Forum, organized by the JIA Foundation.
Under the supervision of Dr. Silvano de la Llata from the Department of Geography, Planning & Environment at Concordia University; in tandem with the JIA foundation and community members.
Team Sustainability - Fall 2022
This poster explores possible leads for intervention within Montreal's Chinatown through the lens of Sustainability. A charette hosted with the community and JIA foundation helped discern community needs.
Team Edge - Winter 2023
This poster acts as the culmination of community consultation and class-wide exchange. The second lens of analysis concerned the edge and connective urban tissue between Montreal's Chinatown and adjacent districts.
